The former regional head of State Street’s SPDR ETF brand has joined the much smaller firm, WisdomTree.
Alexis Marinof becomes head of European distribution for WisdomTree, which ranked as the 25th largest European ETF provider compared to SPDR’s 8th position in a Morningstar report earlier this year.
WisdomTree said Marinof had a proven track record in building multi-product pan-European ETF businesses.
As well as his most recent role as Europe, Middle East and Africa (Emea) head of SPDR ETFs in London, Marinof also held other senior roles with the business, including Emea distribution chief operating officer, and head of Nordic region in Brussels.
At WisdomTree he will lead a team that covers sales in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, the Nordics, Switzerland and the UK.
Marinof replaces Morgan Lee who is returning to WisdomTree’s US headquarters as a regional director for the West Coast.
WisdomTree Europe sponsors WisdomTree Ucits ETFs and also runs the Boost brand of short and leverage exchange-traded products.
The firm’s overall assets under management were $43.9 billion (€38.6 billion), as of June 30, 2017.
Marinof will report to David Abner, head of Europe.
