ETF specialist WisdomTree has added to its digital assets range with the launch of an ethereum exchange-traded product.
The strategy offers investors exposure to the price of ether, the native cryptocurrency of the blockchain-powered ethereum network.
Alexis Marinof, head of Europe at WisdomTree, highlighted that institutional investor interest in the asset class has grown significantly since the firm first launched a digital asset ETP targeting bitcoin in 2019.
“The asset class is still in its infancy but 2020 was an important year for the asset class and institutional investors are waking up to the potential digital assets can bring to portfolios as a diversifier,” he said.
According to WisdomTree, the ETP wrapper has added new dimensions to the cryptocurrency universe, including more liquid and transparent trading, as well as attracting “more sophisticated” market participants into the arena.
The physically-backed WisdomTree Ethereum ETP has listed on Germany’s Börse Xetra and Six, the Swiss stock exchange, and is passported in various countries across Europe.
