Risk advisory and technology firm Validus Risk Management has appointed Andrew Spence as a senior advisor in Toronto focussing on pension plans and asset managers.
Spence will support Validus in innovating risk solutions for their expansion into pension and asset management. He will provide expertise in addressing macroeconomic and financial challenges.
With 30 years of experience in economics, investment strategy and risk management, Spence previously led research at TD Securities and held senior roles at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and OMERS.
He also contributed to macroeconomic policy analysis at His Majesty’s Treasury in London and was a special adviser to the Bank of Canada in Ottawa, providing financial sector insights for the bank’s monetary policy review committee.
Spence said he will advise Validus on its “expansion into the investment management space”.
