Competition for the shortlist was stiffer than ever with the number of entries once again setting a record. In particular, the ‘FundsTech’ categories – the section of the awards that covers technology in the investment funds industry – was deluged as the industry continues apace with its digital transformation.
Similarly, competition for Responsible Investment Manager of the Year (formerly the “ESG” award) was also again high, showing that European firms still highly value recognition in the field of sustainable investment.
And private markets entries continued to rise as the traditional funds industry further expands into the illiquid assets sector.
The Funds Europe Awards cover investment managers and service providers – or the full “front-to-back” spectrum of the funds industry.
Three personality awards will be announced on the night of the awards, which will take place at London Hilton Bankside on 20 November.
FundsTech Awards redrawn
The FundsTech category of awards has been redrawn to accommodate the increased number of entries this year from firms carrying out a diverse range of activities.
Whereas the FundsTech category that focuses on investments (“FundsTech – Investments”) remains the same, the “FundsTech – Operational” category that has appeared for the last two years has been refined.
- “FundsTech: Core Operations & Infrastructure” – this new category recognises firms improving the underlying ‘plumbing’ of fund operations – for example, fund accounting, reconciliation, data processing, fund administration, and core system automation.
- “FundsTech: Investor Engagement & Digital Innovation” – this category is designed to recognise platforms driving front-end innovation, including investor portals, digital distribution, tokenisation, ESG engagement, and tech for improving client experience and transparency.
Digital Asset Service Provider
In a similar way to how FundsTech was redrawn, our inaugural “European Digital Asset Service Provider of the Year” has been refined to better reflect the specialisms of these companies within the digital asset sector and to ensure a fairer and more meaningful comparison. The category was split into subcategories that are more focused and based on function or service type.
