A former Goldman Sachs senior counsel has joined Europa, a pan-European real estate investment manager, as head of legal and compliance.
Gemma Skeath spent nearly seven years at Goldman Sachs, most latterly as executive director and senior counsel. She was the lead lawyer for the real estate private equity investing team in Emea.
Based in London, she will now be responsible for heading up the legal and compliance functions at Europa, as well as providing legal counsel and support for business products and strategies.
Previous roles also include working at DLA Piper, a global law firm.
Rob Sim, managing partner at Europa, said Skeath is a key hire and the role will “support our focus on protecting clients’ and their beneficiaries’ best interests, through robust governance”.
Europa was formed in 1999 and has raised 11 real estate funds and completed over 150 transactions totalling more than €12.5 billion across 21 European countries, the firm – which is an affiliate business of Mitsubishi Estate Co. Ltd – said.
