Union Investment has announced that Carola Schroeder will become the new head of portfolio management from 1 February 2024.
Schroeder will be at the forefront of managing a team of 311 fund managers and will be responsible for directing the investment strategies for approximately €316 billion in liquid assets.
Schroeder steps into the role following Andreas Köster’s departure at the end of 2022. Her background in the financial industry includes a tenure on the board of managing directors at Barmenia Versicherungen, overseeing investments and various other departments.
Her prior experience also encompasses leadership positions in investment management and asset allocation with VPV Lebensversicherungs-AG, as well as risk and asset liability management roles at firms like KPMG and Gothaer Asset Management AG.
With a foundation in mathematics and insurance from Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, Schroeder has experience in actuarial and project management roles and senior executive positions.
