Brooks Macdonald has poached Ben Mackie from Charles Stanley, to serve as investment director.
Mackie will join the company’s bespoke portfolio service team, where he will manage a number of discretionary portfolios. He will also focus on servicing and cultivating Brooks Macdonald’s professional adviser network in the south west of England and Wales.
At Charles Stanley, Mackie sat on the investment strategy committee and structured product team. He had previously held roles at Barclays Wealth and Butterfield Private Bank.
Nicholas Skelhorn, senior investment director at Brooks Macdonald, said Mackie’s “considerable” experience of working directly with professional advisers was a key factor in the recruitment process.
Mackie’s addition, Skelhorn continued, was crucial at a time when professional advisers were increasingly moving to outsource investment management responsibilities to firms like Brooks Macdonald.
Brooks Macdonald manages assets of £8 billion (€9.3 billion) as of March 31, 2016.
