US-based Cohen & Steers has named James Cahill as head of funds & sub-advisory sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (Emea).
Based in London, Cahill will be tasked with developing relationships with financial intermediaries across Emea, and raising awareness of Cohen & Steers’ liquid real assets and income divisions, including real estate, listed infrastructure, natural resources, commodities and other yielding securities.
His appointment is part of a wider push by the firm into the Emea region, as the firm expands beyond its traditional North American and Asia-Pacific markets.
Cahill has 28 years’ industry experience. He joins Cohen & Steers from Principal Global Investors, where he served for five years as director of European fund distribution. There, he developed and executed wholesale and sub-advisory distribution strategies for products covering multiple asset classes.
He also spent seven years at both HSBC Asset Management and Aviva Investors, and five years at Cazenove Capital, among other firms.
Marc Haynes, head of sales and client service for Emea, said Cahill’s extensive experience of the European wealth market marked Cahill out during the recruitment process.
As of July 31 2016, Cohen & Steers manages assets of $61.5 billion (€68.66 billion).
