Aviva Investors has revealed a string of hires for its global responsible investment team, mainly of analysts from organisations as diverse as Greenpeace and fund managers like Fidelity.
The most recent hire is of environmental, social and governance (ESG) specialist Rick Stathers, who has been recruited from CDP, formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project.
He joins in August as a senior ESG analyst and will work with Sora Utzinger also from CDP, who has already joined the firm as an ESG analyst.
At CDP Stathers was global director, investor initiatives, and Utzinger was supply chain account manager.
Stathers will support the integration of ESG issues across asset classes, with a particular initial focus on Aviva’s climate change strategy ahead of the UN climate conference in Poland later this year.
Utzinger, meanwhile, is an analyst on the Aviva Stewardship funds, responsible for screening investments, engaging with companies and reporting on the funds’ ESG performance.
Nathan Leclercq is returning to Aviva Investors from ISS, a shareholder voting service, as senior analyst after Anita Skipper recently retired. The role covers obligations such as proxy voting, company engagement and integrating ESG into investment.
Aviva Investors said it had made additional hires over recent months including two from within Aviva: Marte Borhaug as head of strategic projects, and Richard Butters as socially responsible investment (SRI) fund analyst.
Recent external hires include Eugenie Mathieu as senior SRI fund analyst, who joined from Greenpeace; Rebecca Vine as senior corporate governance analyst, who joined from Fidelity; and Sophie Rahm as ESG analyst, who joined from Standard Life Aberdeen.
Stanley Kwong joined as an ESG analyst from the National Audit Office and Natalia Rajewska joined as an ESG analyst from Corporate Citzenship.
Another ESG analyst, Louise Piffaut, joined from Sycomore Asset Management.
