David Abitbol, the head of Societe Generale Securities Services (SGSS), is moving to another role within the firm and is succeded by Arnaud Jacquemin, who heads the asset servicer’s Luxembourg business.
Abitbol, who has led SGSS since January 2019, becomes Societe Generale’s head of global transaction & payment services, effective July 1.
Abitbol has also worked as Societe Generale’s chief operating officer in Asia Pacific and chief executive of Societe Generale’s Hong Kong branch.
Meanwhile, Jacquemin will assume the lead SGSS role once the European Central Bank has approved his successor as CEO of Societe Generale Luxembourg.
Jacquemin joined Societe Generale Group in 1993 within the corporate and investment bank, where he worked in a number of positions both in France and the US, including project finance and as head of strategy for SG CIB.
He became group country head for Luxembourg and CEO of Societe Generale Luxembourg in June 2018.
Slawomir Krupa, CEO of Societe Generale, said the appointment would enable Jacquemin to continue SGSS’ “ambitious roadmap”, including business transformation and diversifying the client base.
The bank also said Alexandre Maymat will become head of group inspection & audit, succeeding Pascal Augé who has decided to leave the bank and develop a personal project.
Both Abitbol and Jacquemin will report to co-heads of global banking and investor solutions Anne-Christine Champion and Alexandre Fleury. Maymat will report to Krupa.
Alongside Maymat, Abitbol and Jacquemin will also retain their positions in the group management committee.
