Mariano Belinky has become head of Santander Asset Management (SAM) after the former chief announced his departure for personal reasons.
Previously head of Santander InnoVentures, Belinky will lead the group’s asset management unit based in Madrid and succeeds Juan Manuel San Román.
Prior to joining InnoVentures, the bank’s €178 million fintech investment fund, Belinky was associate principal at the global management consulting firm McKinsey, advising global banks and asset managers throughout Europe and the Americas.
He also worked in Bridgewater Associates research technology team in the US. Belinky also traded in equity derivatives markets in his native Buenos Aires.
Present in eleven countries across Europe and Latin America, SAM manages €182 billion in assets across different investment vehicles such as pension funds and alternative investments.
