Russell Investments has hired Michele Caronti in the newly created position of director, head of institutional, to lead its institutional business in Italy.
Caronti will report to Thomas Schneider, country head for Italy, and will be responsible for bringing Russell services and investment solutions to institutional investors as the firm works to reinforce its position in the region.
Caronti joins Russell from London Capital Advisors (LCA), an advisory business for institutional investors that he founded in 2010.
Before this, he held a range of senior roles, including head of derivatives and structured products at Unicredit Group and head of equity – fund linked structures/derivatives at Merrill Lynch. He has 15 years of experience working in the Italian market.
Russell has over $275 billion (€251.2 billion) in assets under management, as of September 30, 2014.
