Pioneer Investments has launched two long-short bond funds that aim to generate positive returns in all market conditions.
The Pioneer Long/Short Global Bond strategy can invest in a range of fixed income securities including derivatives. The fund will aim to maintain a duration across the fund of less than three years, meaning it will be relatively insensitive to changes in interest rates, says Pioneer.
The Pioneer Long/Short Opportunistic Credit strategy can invest in a broader range of asset classes, including equity exposure, and will aim for a duration of up to four years, meaning it will take on more risk.
The funds are managed by Thomas Swaney, head of alternative fixed income, US, and Benjamin Gord, portfolio manager, alternative fixed income.
Giordano Lombardo, group chief investment officer, says the funds will rely on Pioneer’s risk budgeting capability.
