Pimco has added Michele Flournoy (pictured) to its global advisory board, which includes luminaries such as Gordon Brown, the former UK prime minister.
Flournoy is a defence and national security expert who served as under-secretary of defense for policy in the Barack Obama Administration and as deputy assistant secretary of defense for strategy in the Bill Clinton Administration.
Her job is to give investment professionals at the fixed income fund manager insights on global economic, political, and strategic developments.
Flournoy is currently a managing partner at WestExec Advisors, which she co-founded.
Emmanuel Roman, Pimco’s chief executive officer, said: “Her insights and analysis of the role geopolitical developments will play in policies and actions by major governments will help us assess their potential impact on capital markets for our clients.”
Other members of the global advisory board are Ben Bernanke, former Federal Reserve chairman, Ng Kok Song, former CIO of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation, Joshua Bolten, former White House chief of staff, and Mark Carney, United Nations special envoy on climate action and finance and former governor of the Bank of England and Bank of Canada.
