Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) has appointed Anwiti Bahuguna as global co-chief investment officer, joining Christian Roth in the role and succeeding Michael Hunstad, who was recently named president of the firm.
Bahuguna will oversee NTAM’s index, fundamental, quantitative and tax-advantaged strategies, as well as active, multi-asset and alternative solutions. Together with Roth, she will be responsible for investment performance, process and philosophy, leading a team of more than 300 professionals worldwide. She will also sit on the Asset Management Leadership Group, Investment Policy Committee and Risk Committee.
Based in Chicago, Bahuguna will report to NTAM president Hunstad.

She brings 27 years of investment industry experience, having previously served as NTAM’s deputy global CIO, CIO of multi-asset investments and head of retirement and not-for-profit OCIO teams. Before joining Northern Trust, she worked at Columbia Threadneedle, heading US multi-asset strategy.
Bahuguna holds a PhD in economics from Northeastern University and a bachelor’s degree in economics and mathematics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. She also serves on the board of the Ammonoosuc Conservation Trust, where she is a member of the finance committee.
