Chicago-based Northern Trust Asset Management has appointed Anne-Sophie van Royen as Head of Index and Quantitative Strategies.
In this role, van Royen will lead the strategic direction, commercial development and execution of Northern Trust Asset Management’s index and quantitative investment capabilities across equity, fixed income and multi-asset solutions.
As of March 31, 2026, Northern Trust Asset Management has $923 billion in index strategies and $47 billion in quantitative strategies under management. Van Royen will drive innovation of these strategies and accelerate research-to-production delivery of scalable client solutions. Van Royen is based in Chicago and reports to Global Co-Chief Investment Officers Anwiti Bahuguna and Christian Roth.

Prior to joining Northern Trust Asset Management, van Royen was chief investment officer of quantitative strategies at Asset Management One USA, where she oversaw strategy development and implementation across multi-asset solutions.
Previously, van Royen held senior roles in quantitative investing and asset allocation at Caisse de Dépot et Placement du Québec, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, UBS, Modus Quantitative Advisors and Credit Suisse Asset Management. She holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in mathematical economics from Université de Paris, Sorbonne.
