Scotland’s Baillie Gifford has made five more staff into partners, including investment managers and a business risk expert.
The promotions will increase the number of partners at the Edinburgh-based firm to 44.
Baillie Gifford, which has £179 billion (€202 billion) of assets under management and advice, employs over 1,000 staff and says it is unique in the UK for being a large investment manager that has remained a partnership.
The new partners, effective from May 2018, are:
- Matthew Brett, investment manager in the Japanese equity team
- James Squires, investment manager in the multi-asset team
- Amy Atack, director for clients investing in emerging markets
- Nick Wood, client director for US financial intermediaries
- Evan Delaney, business risk and internal audit director
Of these, Squires is the most recent to join Baillie Gifford, starting in 2006 a year after graduating from Oxford University.
Four partners will be retiring from the firm at the end of April. These are Sarah Whitley, head of the Japanese equity team; Stephen Rodger and Ken Barker, both partners within fixed income; and Pete Cooke, who has responsibility for clients in the long-term global growth strategy.
Andrew Telfer, joint senior partner, said investment performance has been “excellent” in recent years and that Baillie Gifford was continuing to expand in regions such as Asia and Europe.
