MDOTM has hired Fredrik Werneman as senior vice president of business development, with responsibility for leading and executing the firm’s expansion strategy in the Benelux and Nordic regions.
Werneman joins the firm, which specialises in AI-driven investment strategies, from sustainable investment specialist Osmosis Investment Management, where he was head of European distribution.
Prior to that, he was head of European distribution at Legal & General Investment, head of Nordic business at both Insight Investment and Barclays Global Investors, and head of German institutional business at Nordea Investment Management.
The appointment is part of MDOTM’s wider expansion plans, following a €6.2 million Series B funding round in September 2021, which will see it double its team in the coming year.
Werneman will be based in London and is set to join the business development team, led by Axel Maier.
Maier, global head of business development at MDOTM, said: “He has held senior business development roles at several leading European investment management firms. His experience, contacts and reputation will help MDOTM to expand our client base across Europe as we embark on the next phase of our growth. His knowledge of the asset management sector in the region is exceptional.”
MDOTM said that its business development team has been winning clients in Europe and North America over the past year, more than doubling its assets under advisory, which currently sits at more than €750 million.
