Liontrust has announced its global head of fixed income, David Roberts, will retire in August 2022.
In a media statement, published on Monday (21 February), the company said Roberts’ retirement represented the conclusion of a successful 34 year-long career in managing fixed income funds and investment teams.
He joined Liontrust in 2018, co-managing the Liontrust Global Fixed Income team alongside Phil Milburn and Donald Phillips. Together, they have managed the Liontrust Strategic Bond, GF Strategic Bond, GF Absolute Return Bond and the GF High Yield Bond funds.
Over the coming months, Roberts will increasingly step back from his role, reducing his marketing commitments, while Milburn and Phillips will take over, remaining as the two sole co-heads managing the four funds. Milburn will be responsible for macro-economic analysis.
Prior to joining Liontrust, Roberts had worked for Kames Capital, Britannia Investment Managers and Lloyds Bank.
At Kames Capital, where he was head of fixed income, he was in charge of overall team strategy and fund management, and co-managed strategic bond and investment grade bond strategies.
“I have had a fantastic career and feel privileged to have been able to invest in fixed income markets for so many years on behalf of clients,” Roberts said in a statement.
“This is a good time for me to retire and for Phil and Donald to take advantage of the investment opportunities ahead without me.”
