Electronic reporting firm Kneip has appointed a former Skype executive as part of a bid to boost its digital capability.
The Luxembourg-based firm, which specialises in electronic fund filing and reporting to regulators and investors, has appointed Neil Ward, former global senior vice president of business operations for Skype, the video call technology company.
Ward reports to Bob Kneip, founder, who is leading Kneip’s digital transformation.
As part of the digital push, Bob Kneip has become chairman and Lee Godfrey has been promoted to chief executive. Godfrey joined the firm in 2008 and was previously deputy CEO.
Marie-Jeanne Chèvremont, the former chairman, remains on the board of directors as special adviser to the chairman.
The senior moves are part of a focus on the next phase of the Kneip’s evolution, including investment in digital, the firm said.
Bob Kneip said he would concentrate specifically on Kneip’s “Accelerator” division, dedicated to digital strategy and transformation, “delivering new products and solutions for financial markets in their need to master increasing regulatory and technical challenges”.
Digital compliance tools such as regulatory reporting have been made more compelling by the scale of information and literature required of funds by various industry actors, including regulators.
The area shows signs of increased sophistication, with BNP Paribas Securities Services announcing yesterday a stake in a fintech start-up that uses artificial intelligence in areas such as fund compliance.
