JP Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM) has scored a coup in hiring Invesco’s Bryon Lake to head up its international ETF business.
Lake was previously head of Invesco’s Powershares business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and ran many successful smart beta strategies, including its high dividend, low volatility Ucits ETF.
He will be based in London and according to JPMAM will be responsible for driving the firm’s international ETF expansion beyond its existing range in the US.
Lake is to partner with other parts of the business, including distribution, client service and investment teams to identify opportunities for ETF products in Europe and Asia.
Michael Camacho, global head of beta strategies at JPMAM, said the firm’s intention is to build a global beta strategies business with various ETF capabilities, including smart beta, to serve its clients globally.
“As one of the industry’s most accomplished ETF executives, Bryon brings impressive leadership and momentum to the team,” said Camacho.
JPMAM’s existing ETF platform has 11 different products with combined assets under management of $1.4 billion (€1.3 billion) in the US.
