Janus Henderson Group has announced its global chief investment officer has decided to retire.
After nine years at the firm, Enrique Chang will step down on 1 April 2022.
Even though no successor to Chang has been confirmed yet, he has recently worked closely with the existing investments leadership team and executive committee members George Maris and Alex Crooke, who are co-heads of equities, and Jim Cielinski, global head of fixed income, to ensure a “seamless transition” of responsibilities.
Richard Gillingwater, chair of Janus Henderson’s board of directors, said: “George, Alex and Jim’s extensive investment experience, coupled with their long-standing and excellent reputations as leaders in the asset management industry, positions them and the wider, highly-regarded Janus Henderson investments team well in ensuring a seamless, and effective transition.”
Chang joined Janus Henderson in 2013 and served as its global CIO since 2017. Prior to this, Chang worked as CIO and executive vice president for American Century Investments.
The announcement of Chang’s planned retirement comes just a week after the asset manager confirmed that Ali Dibadj will succeed Dick Weil as CEO of Janus Henderson.
Speaking on his retirement, Chang said: “I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with some of the best investment professionals in the business and to have delivered on the promise of providing superior risk-adjusted returns to our clients.”
