The Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC) has confirmed that PKA CEO Jon Johnsen has been appointed vice chair, while six others have been elected to the board.
Head of stewardship, EOS at Federated Hermes, Bruce Duguid, is joining the board, alongside managing director for global responsible investment and governance at APG asset management, Claudia Kruse.
Chief investment officer at the Environment Agency Pension Fund, Graham Cook, has also been appointed, as has Kelly Christodoulou, listed ESG and stewardship manager at AustralianSuper.
Chief responsible investment officer for the Church of England Pensions Board, Adam Matthews, was re-elected.
Caroline Le Meaux, head of ESG research, engagement and voting at Amundi and Sandy Boss, global head of investment stewardship at BlackRock, were also co-opted to serve on the board.
Delivering a keynote address at the IIGCC AGM, Alok Sharma, MP and COP26 president, said: “Last month in Glasgow, we secured a historic global agreement on climate action, the Glasgow Climate Pact. Thanks to this, the 1.5 degree limit lives. But its pulse is weak. And it is up to all of us to protect it and strengthen it. Delivery is key, and that relies on public and private finance working together.
“Groups like IIGCC have helped to create momentum across private finance. And private finance must now implement ambitious net zero targets, phase out coal and mobilise more capital to developing countries. Together, let’s continue to keep 1.5 degrees alive.”
