Employees of London-based Hermes Investment Management will be rowing the length of the river Thames for charity.
Eight members of the firm’s real estate team will spend five days starting next week rowing 160 miles from the source of the Thames in Gloucestershire to Tower Bridge in London.
The decision to raise funds for medical charities followed the fact that one of the team, Gavin Murray, a cancer survivor, was recently told that his bowel cancer had returned requiring him to undergo extensive chemotherapy.
In addition, the son of team member Chris Mathew, William, was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and will require a kidney transplant.
Money raised will go to St Mark’s Hospital, a research centre for bowel disorders, and the Oxford Kidney Unit Trust.
