Key speakers from the Luxembourg funds industry are lined up to appear at an inaugural Funds Europe conference in November later this year.
The Funds Europe Growth in European Asset Management Conference is a half-day event in Luxembourg that will explore the drivers and challenges for growth in the European funds industry.
Key to this debate will be the groundbreaking proposals forwarded by Mario Draghi for a re-energised Capital Markets Union, and panelists Thomas Klein, of Quintet Private Bank (Europe), and Chrystelle Veeckmans, of KPMG’s asset management practice in Luxembourg, are set to discuss how the Draghi proposals – and the adjacent vision of Enrico Letta for a European savings & investment union – could boost investments in Europe and channel more household finance towards investment funds.
Funds Europe’s Growth in European Asset Management Conference will feature participants and attendees from Luxembourg’s fund management and asset servicing industry.
Other participants include Micaela Forelli, the CEO of M&G Investments in Luxembourg, and Rafal Kwasny, conducting officer at Franklin Templeton’s Luxembourg operation.
Panels and presentations will explore key topics across Europe’s investment funds industry – themes that are relevant to both fund providers and to investors.
The conference will scrutinise the efficacy of Europe’s funds industry relative to the US, assessing regulatory barriers and scalability issues.
Private markets also feature, with panels debating the future of ELTIFs in private equity, the expansion of the Eligible Assets Regime, and whether private market operations could ever match the efficiencies found in the Ucits regulatory regime, where speed and automation are critical.
In an era of technological change, AI’s role in reshaping Luxembourg’s funds industry will be discussed by a panel including Borno Janekovic, the CEO of Omphalos Fund, an AI-driven fund manager based in Luxembourg, and also including Ulf Herbig, Ulf Herbig, chairman of the EFAMA AI Task Force.
Among other topics, this panel will consider Luxembourg’s role in AI-driven fund innovation.
Nick Fitzpatrick, contributing editor at Funds Europe, said: “Funds Europe has held many roundtables in Luxembourg over the years and we in fact staged one of our first FundsTech events in the Grand Duchy before the Covid pandemic.
“Funds Europe has many supporters in Luxembourg and it’s high time we returned to the Grand Duchy in a more substantial way – and this event is the way to do it!”
