France Mayer has been appointed as the retail investor relations and protection director at the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) – the securities commission in France- effective June 1, 2024.
Mayer, currently the market intermediaries supervision director within the AMF’s data and markets directorate, will join the AMF executive committee in her new role.
AMF: Article 8 & 6 differences “rarely significant”
A finance graduate from EDHEC and holder of an MBA in Finance and Accounting from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Mayer began her career at Société Générale. She held various positions in the secondary trading team for structured products and complex derivatives before joining Lyxor Asset Management’s fund structuring team.
Mayer joined the AMF in 2010 as a portfolio manager in the Market Intermediaries Monitoring Directorate. By 2014, she was promoted to unit head, overseeing the authorization and monitoring of market intermediaries and the implementation of new regulations such as MiFID 2.
AMF launches social media consultation for bond issues
Mayer succeeds Claire Castanet, who retired in March 2024. AMF Chair Marie-Anne Barbat-Layani expressed confidence in Mayer’s capabilities, stated: “We are delighted to promote France Mayer to this strategic position at the AMF, whose top priority is to protect retail investors.”
