Seraphim Space, an investment trust focussed on space technology, has announced the appointment of a chief operating officer.
The London-listed closed-ended fund announced the appointment of Sarah Shackleton on Monday (7 March).
Mark Boggett, chief executive of Seraphim Space, said the appointment comes at an exciting time for the space tech sector.
He said: “The space tech sector is forecast to grow into a trillion-dollar industry this decade. Technological advances are at a watershed moment, overturning traditional models for operating in space and creating hundreds of new companies every month.
“Sarah possesses a wealth of experience in overseeing the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of billion-dollar funds, which will be integral to ensuring that we continue to grow our portfolio across the full space tech ecosystem.”
Shackleton joins from Development Partners International, where she has worked for the past 15 years. In her previous role she was responsible for actively managed funds with investments in more than 23 different companies across 30 African countries.
Her expertise extends across a range of sectors, and she has experience in other corporate functions such as legal services, compliance, human resources, IT, operations, facilities and sustainability.
Earlier in her career, she worked for UBS as an associate director, where she was responsible for the analysis and valuation of European telecoms companies.
Shackleton added: “As the global leader in space tech investment, Seraphim Space is exploring, developing and accelerating the space tech ecosystem to discover and invest in the companies that will shape a new economic revolution, transform the world and improve people’s lives on a global scale.”
