Catriona Marshall, former head of sustainable finance at the OECD, has become head of sustainable investment for fund manager Comgest.
At the OECD – the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development – Marshall led a team of expert analysts advising countries on sustainable finance, which included developing policy guidance for the G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group on best practices to strengthen ESG investing and to finance a climate transition.
At Comgest, she leads the responsible investment and responsible development teams.
Marshall said: “I was attracted to Comgest by its culture and commitment to bottom-up, quality growth investing. This is a challenge that excites me; having the opportunity to contribute to the success of Comgest’s portfolios.
Sébastien Thévoux-Chabuel, Comgest’s head of responsible investment, is leaving the firm after a decade to focus on his executive PhD in shareholder engagement and may contribute to Comgest in a consultancy role, said the firm.
Franz Weis, chief investment officer at Comgest, said: “We wish Sébastien all the best in his future endeavours. As we continue to enhance our ESG capabilities, Catriona’s expertise will be invaluable for the next chapter of our evolving responsible investment journey. Her track record of innovative thinking and effective strategy implementation in sustainable finance will be a major asset to our team in the continuation of our bottom-up approach to ESG integration and the assessment of future risks and opportunities.”
In July 2024, the firm retained its signatory status to the Financial Reporting Council’s UK Stewardship Code for another year. In March 2024, Comgest won the Morningstar Asset Manager Sustainable-Investing Awards for France and Spain for its work over the past two years, expanding and reorganising the ESG team, improving engagement policies and furthering the integration of ESG factors across all investment strategies. Weis noted that Comgest holds the highest Morningstar ESG Commitment Level of Advanced.
