Citi has created the new position of head of investor services for Luxembourg, and appointed its veteran securities services expert Jervis Smith to the role.
Smith will report to Chris Cox, Head of Securities Services for Europe, Middle East and Africa, and to Luxembourg county officer Alberta Brusi. He has been with Citi since 1994, most recently heading up sales for the bank’s securities services business in APAC. During his 22-year tenure, he has held a number of sales and relationship management roles across Citi’s international offices.
A spokesperson for Citi said the promotion reflected Luxembourg’s continuing status as a “top priority” for the firm, and its continuing emphasis on custody and fund service offerings. Smith’s “extensive” experience in these spaces are said to have been a clincher in the recruitment process.
Smith’s promotion follows Citi’s poaching of Patrick O’Brien from JP Morgan’s Ireland office last month. The move was said to be part of a wider focus on the fund domiciles of Ireland and Luxembourg in the wake of Britain’s vote to secede from the European Union.
