CCLA Investment Management (CCLA IM) has launched a global equities fund, its first strategy for retail investors.
The CCLA Better World Global Equity Fund is a UK-domiciled Ucits fund investing in global companies with sustainable long-term business models, positive free cash flows, and those well-poised to benefit from long-term, secular trends.
The manager, which has traditionally been focused on charity investors, launched the fund with £230 million of seed capital.
CCLA co-heads of investment, James Ayre and Charlotte Ryland will manage the fund.
Ayre and Ryland have each managed the firm’s existing global equity strategy for charity investors for 15 and six years respectively.
The fund returned -0.4% over one year and 11.5% over three years, according to Morningstar data, while the MSCI World High Dividend Yield NR USD returned -10.1% over one year and 4.5% over three years.
The new fund will seek to mirror CCLA’s global strategy and is available for investment by wealth managers. The firm is currently aiming to secure distribution partnerships with UK direct-to-consumer platforms, as well as intermediary platforms.
“This offering will appeal to those investors seeking good performance combined with a genuine and authentic approach to ESG and sustainable investing,” said CCLA’s Jasper Berens, head of client relationships and distribution.
The actively-managed fund will prioritise engagement with investee companies and assess their environmental, social, and governance credentials to ensure they are sustainable businesses.
