Carmignac has hired Jean-François Louvrier from Pictet Asset Management (AM) as a portfolio manager with experience in global long-short equities.
In his new role at Carmignac, Louvrier will manage a global equity market neutral fund, which will integrate environmental and social criteria within the investment process and will be classified as an Article 8 fund under the EU’s Sustainable Financial Disclosure Regulation.
The fund will initially be placed in Carmignac’s ‘LAB’, launched in 2014 for “nurturing” new strategies before making them available to clients.
Based in London, Louvrier will report into Carmignac’s head of equities David Older.
At Pictet AM, Louvrier had been portfolio manager of a global long-short equities portfolio since 2015, having started out working at PWC and then McKinsey & Company.
Older said: “We are very pleased to have Jean-François joining us. His successful experience implementing long-short equity strategies and knowledge of certain cyclical sectors is an important addition to our alternative investments franchise, which has been gaining traction with our clients over the years.”
The long-short equity strategies space has become “a cornerstone of our investment focus”, according to Carmignac.
The performance of the Carmignac Portfolio Long Short European Equities fund places it in the top quartile of the Morningstar ‘Alt Long/Short Equity – Europe’ category over one, three and five-years.
