Asset manager BNY Mellon Investment Management has launched the Responsible Horizons Emerging Market Debt Impact Fund, managed by Insight Investment – part of the BNY group.
The fund is categorised as article 9 under the EU’s sustainable finance regulations and invests in emerging market bonds that target returns while also having an environmental or social impact. The impact themes are people, planet and prosperity, each mapped to the UN sustainable development goals and EU taxonomy.
Bonds chosen for the fund must pass Insight’s impact assessment framework, which considers impact activity and reporting standards.
Simon Cooke, portfolio manager of the fund, said: “Emerging markets are some of the most pressing environmental and social challenges globally, also offering an increasingly diversified, rapidly growing impact universe, particularly within the corporate debt space. We seek to identify what we believe to be the ‘best ideas’ from that universe to combine a structural yield premium with scope to deliver long-term positive change.”
The fund is domiciled in Ireland and is part of the BNY Mellon Global Funds range. It distributes into various European countries.
