Asset manager Amundi has named Credit Agricole Philippe Brassac as chairperson after former chief executive Yves Perrier held the role.
Perrier had held the role since 2021 to oversee what was labelled a “transition period” by the €1.9 trillion firm.
Brassac joined the board in October 2022 and will take over from Perrier at the firm’s annual general meeting on May 12 and Perrier will become honorary chairman of the company.
Brassac has been CEO of Credit Agricole since 2015 and a part of the business since 1982.
Perrier said “Amundi has a robust business model and strong growth drivers for the future. I am certain that, under the leadership of Valérie Baudson [current CEO] and with the support of Philippe Brassac and Crédit Agricole Group, Amundi will continue its growth journey.
“For my part, among my future responsibilities, I will pursue my commitment to promote finance that serves the country’s transition and development challenges.”
Prior to holding the role of chair, Perrier had been CEO of Amundi for 11 years before handing the role to Baudson in 2021.
During his tenure, he oversaw the firm’s creation following the merger of Societe Generale’s and Crédit Agricole’s asset management businesses in 2010. He also oversaw the company’s Paris listing in 2015 and several acquisitions, including those of Pioneer Investments and Banco de Sabadell.
