The chief executive of Amundi, Yves Perrier, is to donate half of his €2 million bonus for 2019 to a Covid-19 solidarity fund set up by Credit Agricole – Amundi’s main shareholder.
A similar donation will also be made by the chief executive of the Credit Agricole banking group Philippe Brassac and his deputy Xavier Musca.
The solidarity fund will be used to help elderly people suffering because of the Coronavirus pandemic.
While the chief executives and chairpersons of other financial services companies have in recent days announced that they will forgo some of their compensation packages, Perrier’s voluntary decision to renounce part of his bonus is the first such move in the asset management industry.
Earlier this month Amundi said it was considering suspending its dividend payment for 2019. A decision will be taken at the firm’s virtual annual general meeting slated for May 12.
