Allianz Global Investors has appointed Iain Cowell in the newly created role of head of solutions for UK and Ireland. He will report to Joe Moody, head of the international solutions business.
Based in London, Cowell will be responsible for the strategic direction of Allianz GI’s solutions business in the UK and Ireland. He will oversee defined contribution (DC) flexible income solutions, defined benefit (DB) solutions and dynamic risk management – a solution designed to outperform a pension scheme’s strategic asset allocation and reduce portfolio risk.
Prior to joining Allianz GI, Cowell worked as head of investment affairs at the National Association of Pension Funds, managing director at BNY Mellon and a director at Hermes Investment Management.
Commenting on the appointment, Moody says that Cowell’s contribution in the role will help to drive the expansion of Allianz GI’s solutions business in the UK, particularly in response to changes in the UK pensions market.
Allianz GI has €454 billion in assets under management, as at March 31, 2015.
