abrdn Research Institute’s deputy head, Stephanie Kelly, has exited to join investment manager Redwheel in the newly created role of head of thematic sustainability research.
Redwheel has hired Kelly in a move to strengthen its ESG and sustainability capabilities, a key priority for the asset manager. In her role at the abrdn Research Institute, Kelly was responsible for the integration and application of ESG across the business. Before taking on the role, she was a senior political economist at the institute and head of political, policy and ESG research.
Kelly had first joined abrdn in 2014 as part of its multi-asset investment branch. At Redwheel, Kelly will be responsible for building and leading a team of sustainability research specialists to become a central resource for Redwheel’s investment teams.
Her team will work alongside the team of Chris Anker, head of sustainability at Redwheel, reporting to head of investment strategy Arthur Grigoryants.
Grigoryants commented: “Stephanie’s knowledge and track record in macro ESG research will be a key ingredient as we build out our sustainable offering. “The appointment is a reflection of the opportunities we see to enhance both the quality and breadth of our sustainability activities and develop our approach to collaboration.”
Redwheel recently made two other sustainability appointments in March this year, including Olivia Seddon-Daines as senior sustainability specialist and Katherine Velasquez Rodriguez as responsible investment associate.
