Lombard Odier Investment Managers has appointed Dr Marc Palahi as chief nature officer, and the fund managers plan to create investment products related to the natural world.
Palahi joins from the European Forest Institute, where he was the director responsible for driving the institute’s development as a pan-European science-policy platform.
In his new role, which began June 1, London-based Palahi will be responsible for developing the nature strategy within holistiQ Investment Partners, LOIM’s dedicated sustainable investment platform, which launched last week.
Additionally, he will help create new tools and investment solutions that support the phase-out of carbon-intensive economic activity and replace it with nature-based models.
In addition to his role within holistiQ, Palahi will continue to lead the expert group Circular Bioeconomy Alliance – set up by King Charles when he was still Prince Charles in 2020 – on a secondment basis.
Jean-Pascal Porcherot, co-head of LOIM and managing partner of Lombard Odier, said Palahi would be “instrumental” as holistiQ looks to develop nature-based investment products.
