Vincent Mortier has been appointed as chief investment officer (CIO) at Amundi, succeeding Pascal Blanqué, who has been named chairman of the newly-created Amundi Institute.
Mortier has been the group deputy CIO of Amundi since 2015 and is a member of the global management committee, the executive management committee and of several supervisory boards at Amundi.
Amundi Institute aims to strengthen the advice, training and day-to-day dialogue on economic, financial, geopolitical, societal and environmental dimensions for its clients, the firm said.
The Amundi Institute will continue to serve Amundi’s investment management teams and will have an initial staff of around 60.
Blanqué will supervise the new business line with support from Monica Defend, who has been named head of Amundi Institute. Meanwhile, Matteo Germano, former head of multi-asset investment, has been appointed as Amundi’s deputy chief investment officer.
Germano’s former multi-asset investment platform responsibilities will be divided between John O’Toole, head of multi-asset investment solutions, and Francesco Sandrini, head of multi-asset strategies.
Blanqué said: “Inflation, environmental issues, geopolitical tensions… there are many structural regime changes underway. Investors across the board expect a deeper dialogue and sophisticated advice to build more robust portfolios.”
