US-based Vanguard Asset Management has appointed Thomas Merz to the newly-created role of head of European distribution outwith the UK.
Merz will be responsible for expanding Vanguard’s presence in both new and established markets in continental Europe.
In his new role, based in Zurich, Merz will report to Sean Hagerty, Vanguard’s European head.
Merz was previously head of ETFs, Europe, at UBS Asset Management.
Vanguard’s European operations currently have over €123 billion in assets under management.
