José Placido, chief executive of RBC Investor Services, will leave the company at the end of February after 24 years.
Tony Johnson, global head of sales and distribution, and Joanna Meager, global head of client operations, will become co-heads of RBC Investor Services at the beginning of March, subject to regulatory approval, while continuing to fulfill their current roles.
The pair will report to Harry Samuel, head of RBC Investor & Treasury Services, a new segment that includes Global Financial Institutions, Investor Services and Treasury Services.
RBC Investor Services began as RBC Dexia Investor Services, a joint venture between the Royal Bank of Canada and Belgium-based Dexia bank in 2006.
In October 2011 a bail-out of Dexia was announced involving the governments of France, Belgium and Luxembourg. The Royal Bank of Canada subsequently bought out Dexia from the joint venture.
RBC Investor & Treasury Services today says it is active in 15 markets with $2.9 trillion (€2.2 trillion) in assets under administration.
