The latest results of ongoing research into funds standardisation and automation by Swift and the European Fund and Asset Management Association (Efama) show that the total automation rate of fund orders topped 75% in Q4 2010, while the adoption rate for ISO messaging increased by a further 3% compared to the same period in 2009.
And Swift has taken another important step to reinforce the already powerful benefits of Swift-based automation for funds processing by introducing significant price reductions for the ISO 20022-based MX fund messages. As a result of the new pricing plan, the cost of the ISO 20022 MX mutual funds messages falls by, on average, 30%.
Udo Braun, divisional board member, group markets operations, at Commerzbank AG, comments: “The ISO 20022 fund MXs are the way forward for fund processing automation, but building a business case for rapid adoption and full migration is sometimes a challenge. This move by Swift helps to incentivise migration.”
