Major fund houses have launched tokenised MMFs and in a special report Funds Europe assembled an expert panel to discuss how this could lead to massive distribution opportunities and mitigate liquidity stress in the system.
“2024 has been a very significant year,” said John Allan, head of innovation and operations at The Investment Association, the UK fund management trade body.
One of the most powerful emerging use cases for MMF tokenisation is the deployment of tokenised MMFs as collateral – an innovation with the potential to alleviate systemic liquidity risks during periods of financial stress.
The expert panel also featues Kim Hochfeld, global head of the cash and securities lending, State Street Global Advisors; and Simon Keefe, head of digital solutions, Calastone.
