Investment manager Sarasin & Partners has appointed Mark Burgess as an independent non-executive director to its LLP (limited liability partnership) board.
Burgess brings over 30 years of senior fund management experience to the role. He was previously chief investment officer (CIO), Emea, and deputy global CIO at Columbia Threadneedle Investments. Before that, he served as head of equities at Legal & General Investment Management, where he also led the firm’s corporate governance initiatives. His earlier career includes senior roles at Deutsche Asset Management as a UK equity fund manager.
Burgess was also a founding board member of the Investor Forum, chair of the Investment Committee at the Investment Association, and a member of the Kingman Review advisory panel.
Sarasin & Partners names head of private clients
After stepping back from full-time executive positions, Burgess joined Tuchan (later acquired by Teneo) as a senior adviser and partner, providing strategic guidance on shareholder and capital markets issues until 2024. He is now a part of the board of Aviva Investors, where he chairs the remuneration and nominations committees, and serves as an associate trustee of the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.
