Thomas Miller Investment (TMI), which manages assets for global institutional clients, has adopted Amundi Technology’s Alto Investment platform to streamline and unify its global asset management processes.
Alto provides a front-to-back solution, covering areas like portfolio analysis, data management, trading, cash handling, compliance, performance tracking, and reporting. As a cloud-based, modular platform, Alto offers continuous updates, connections to over 150 data providers, and open APIs for automated workflows and system monitoring. By implementing this technology, TMI seeks to consolidate its systems into one efficient, flexible platform for enhanced operational performance.
Amundi’s Net Zero Ambition (NZ) strategies, launched in November 2022, aim to align 18% of its assets with net zero by 2025. Supported by its ESG Ambition 2025 plan, the French asset manager has developed a framework that combines high-level sustainability metrics with advanced analysis tools to reach this goal. To monitor and report progress on its net zero strategies, it uses the Alto Sustainability and net zero dashboard. This platform provides real-time data on sustainability metrics to portfolio managers, risk managers, and select clients, allowing for up-to-date insights into each portfolio’s alignment with net zero goals.
At the core of Amundi’s approach are two dimensions: “alignment” and “contribution.” The alignment dimension focuses on identifying companies on a net zero trajectory, while the contribution dimension favours investments that directly accelerate the global low-carbon transition. Amundi applies a series of asset-level indicators, including green bonds, taxonomy compliance, and sector-specific metrics, to assess whether companies are meeting their net zero goals or actively contributing to climate solutions.
Amundi has also upgraded its reporting capabilities to include critical data points such as EU Taxonomy alignment, net zero trajectories, and the percentage of companies in its portfolios with Science-Based Targets (SBTi) commitments.

In assessing transition risks, Amundi employs both basic and advanced metrics, ranging from carbon emissions data to sophisticated temperature scores which forecast companies’ alignment with Net Zero targets. Recognising limitations in third-party data variability, it has also developed its proprietary transition score that integrates external data with insights from Amundi’s in-house ESG analysts, providing an assessment of transition risks tailored to each company’s specific profile and industry.
Amundi’s ESG research team actively works with high-emission sectors like oil, gas, utilities, and steel to promote Net Zero alignment. Using metrics like “green to brown” ratios and climate-focused goals, they encourage companies to commit to measurable emission reductions.
To support these efforts, Amundi also collaborates with the Amundi Institute and Amundi Technology for quantitative research on Scope 3 emissions, climate stress testing, and carbon credit evaluation. Additionally, a partnership with the MIT Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Global Change links long-term climate scenarios to company-specific valuations. This offers insights into how high-emitting or low-carbon technology-dependent companies may be affected under various transition scenarios, informing Amundi’s investment decisions in real time.
