Hines, a global real estate investment manager, has hired Thomas Ummels as head of development and construction for The Netherlands.
Prior to joining Hines, Ummels worked as chief development officer for Dutch real estate developer EDGE (previously OVG), spending 20 years in various roles focused on development and construction.
Jan Hein Tiedema, the Hines country head for Netherlands appointed last year and also from EDGE, said he was happy to be working with Ummels again.
Hines owns or manages more than 735,000 square meters of real estate in The Netherlands on behalf of investors, with more than 690,000 square meters in logistics.
In July, Hines completed the acquisition of a 20,000 square-meter retail warehouse in Venlo, adjacent to its existing investment, Fresh Park Venlo, on behalf of the Hines Global Income Trust, Inc. (HGIT).
Ummels said: “Hines’ has been at the cutting edge of real estate investing and development for many years and is responsible for numerous iconic buildings around the world. I am honoured to be taking up this role at an investment firm with development right at the core of its DNA, and I can’t wait to deploy the full potential of Hines’ capabilities in the Dutch market.”
