HSBC Asset Management has appointed Pierin Menzli as global CIO, equity, to lead its active equity platform.
Menzli joined HSBC AM in 2022 as thematic equity CIO and was previously head of thematic equities at Bank J. Safra Sarasin, responsible for developing the firm’s thematic equity franchise with several global equity strategies in the fields of technology, health, consumer and environment.
Menzli now takes responsibility for leading the firm’s active equity platform, leading over 100 professionals who manage close to US$30 billion of assets across various strategies. He will also play a role in accelerating business growth for the platform specifically focused on emerging markets, Asia and thematic and other specialised strategies.
Based in Switzerland, Menzli will report into Xavier Baraton, global chief investment officer.
Menzli said he and the team would aim to further strengthen the firm’s long-term investment culture and offer differentiated active equities solutions to clients on “multiple local expert investment hubs”.
