Nuveen has hired Ted Maa as the firm’s managing director of private equity impact investing.
Maa joined the firm today and will be based in New York. He will report to Rekha Unnithan, head of private impact investing at Nuveen.
Maa is experienced in private equity and focused on the intersection of energy and climate change mitigation. The investment manager said he would identify, execute and manage direct private equity investments in critical thematic impact sectors.
Before joining Nuveen, Maa was a Partner at Pine Brook, where he led investments in conventional energy companies and helped implement ESG and decarbonisation programs within the firm’s conventional energy portfolios.
Maa has also worked in the biofuels and waste-to-value sectors and conventional energy infrastructure and services at Denham Capital earlier.
