Global assets invested in exchange-traded products (ETPs) reached US$5.16 trillion (€4.4 trillion) by the end of January 2019, according to research and consultancy firm ETFGI.
The latest figure indicates a 7.13% rise in ETF/ETP investments globally – from US$4.82 trillion in December 2018.
January 2019 marked the 60th month in a row of net inflows into ETFs/ETPs listed globally with US$17.35 billion.
“In January, equity markets rebounded from the fourth quarter when global equities suffered steep declines amid persistent worries over trade and economic growth,” said Deborah Fuhr, managing partner and founder of ETFGI.
“US Fed chair [Jerome] Powell revised his stance on where he believes the neutral rate of interest lies, easing fears of a dramatic and painful tightening cycle,” Fuhr added.
