José Placido, the former chief executive officer of RBC Dexia Investor Services (RBC IS), has resurfaced at BNP Paribas Securities Services, just over a year since leaving his former role.
Placido’s departure from RBC IS was announced in January 2013, several months after Royal Bank of Canada bought out Dexia from the investor services joint venture.
Placido joins BNP Paribas on 22 April as co-head of sales and relationship management with Charles Cock, the current head of client development.
Based in London, Placido will report to Patrick Colle, head of BNP Paribas Securities Services – the custody and asset servicing business of the French bank.
Dexia, which was based in Brussels, needed a €6 billion bail out in 2008 and was an early victim of the Eurozone crisis. Royal Bank of Canada announced its full ownership of the asset servicing unit – now RBC Investor Services – in April 2012.
Cock will become vice-chairman – international, a new senior client executive role focused on key customer relationships, from January 2015.
