Eurozone inflation rose to 3% last month, according to an estimate by Eurostat.
Inflation and growth patterns vary considerably across the eurozone as concerns over sovereign creditworthiness of some countries are mounting and leaders have come under pressure to find a solution.
The statistical office of the European Union says September’s inflation number is up from 2.5% in August. Eurozone inflation is now well above the European Central Bank’s target of 2%.
In a second release, Eurostat said the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for the region remained at 10% in August, unchanged compared with July.
